Meet Joshua

Based in Vancouver, Washington, oil painter Joshua Tabor works both en plein air and in the studio. He is known for thick, expressive brushstrokes and the use of palette knives. His paintings are loose and playful, focusing on the quiet beauty of ordinary, everyday moments that are often overlooked. Before turning his focus to painting, he served in the infantry in Fairbanks, Alaska. He then spent a decade building homes in Vancouver and continues to work as a carpenter today. Working with his hands has always been central to his life, a sensibility that carries into his painting through a physical, process-driven approach. He enjoys pushing paint, allowing the work to remain honest, imperfect, and full of character.
